Official Welcome Barbi

Sunday at noon hour we were hosted at a barbi on the beautiful setting of the backyard of Bob and Cheryl DeLange where Susanna is staying.
The skies were crystal clear with bright sun (sunscreen!), but the temps were 34 degrees celcius, 94 fahrenheit!
We owe it to the Wynnum and Manly Rotary Club for the arrangements including their 2 club 12 x 12 pop-up canopies. District Governor Chris Wright officially welcomed us along with Foundation Chair Ray Brand who was DG 2003-04. Anne Brand is incoming District Governor for 2010-11. GSE Chair Peter Marer, who had met us at the airport along with Chris Wright and a number of his staff was not present as he had won a ticket to attend a national soccer tournament in Melbourne.
Of special note was the very able presence of George Lake, past District Governor 1978-79 and Charter member of this club in 1953!
We were also pleased to meet the District 9630 GSE team leaving in mid-April for our District 6380. The leader is Alison Blomkamp, Business Coach/Consultant, and her members Jeff Stark, Farm Manager; Ryan Blunden, Web Designer; and Ian Skinner, Crime Detective. The last member couldn't make it due to work responsibilities.
All in all, a good-feeling Australian time!
