Wallaby patrol - Friday, March 6

Today our first stop on the Toowoomba tour was Picnic Point. There was a monument there celebrating Queensland's 150th anniversary as a state. We also saw an amazing view of Table Top Mountain - such great pictures! We moved on from there to the Japanese Gardens at the University of Southern Queensland. It was absolutely gorgeous, but there were hundreds of "flying foxes" (huge bats!) hanging (and screeching) in the trees! Next stop was a visit at the Toowoomba Regional Council - Mayor Peter Taylor was so gracious and gave us an hour of his time. He gave us a lot of information and allowed us to take some fun pictures! We also had scones, fruit, and sandwiches for morning tea - thank-you to the Mayor, councillors, and everyone else who contributed to our great time!

We did our first round of shopping soon after leaving the Council - thank goodness they took VISA! :) Ross, our awesome leader from the Toowoomba East club (he is a great bus driver and tour guide!), treated us to lunch, and then drove us to a tour at Cobb & Co., a historical museum in Toowoomba. After seeing some great old fashioned carriages (among other things), we moved on to the "Scented Garden" within Laurel Bank park which was created by the Toowoomba East Rotary club. Its main purpose is to facilitate the garden experience for those who are visually impaired (raised edges on the paths and highly fragranced types of flowers and plants).
We are currently at Ross and Wendy Watt's house, about to start a dinner for the team, their hosts, as well as Peter and Debbie Marer. Cheers from the team!
