Gold Coast discards Kristi and Katy

Before the Welcome Barbi, Katy and Kristi were graciously escorted to Surfer's Paradise (the Gold Coast).
First they were taken to a place called "The Spit" (no joke, literally its name). They quickly realized they were at the wrong beach when they were surrounded by poo, wee, dogs and their owners. They made a beeline back to the vehicles and off to the main beach.
It took them 2.3 seconds to hit the ocean...and the waves! The ocean was surprisingly clear and the temperature was perfect.
After a few poundings of the waves, Katy and Kristi quickly realized they needed to move to deeper water. There they rode the waves and learned which waves they could float over, and those they needed to dive under. Despite learning these techniques, there were still a few surprises. On one occasion, the Canadian and the American became tangled with each other, but fought back so they could ride the waves again.
Within minutes, as Kristi focused on staying between the flags, she was punched back by one wave after another, to the point where the ocean literally "spit" her onto the shore. There she realized she was no match for the ocean and retreated to her towel.
Katy took a couple more "beatings" then she too discovered she had no business being there...land was a much better friend! With heads hung low, Kristi and Katy surrendered to the ocean.
After ensuring their safety, the locals had a hearty laugh at the girls expense.
Overall it was an experience of a lifetime...one they will never forget!
